Wordless Wednesday… with words

Occasionally I post a photo for the Wordless Wednesday series. I was lying in bed last night thinking about which photo to post and had a couple in mind.

Then I got to my computer this morning and saw this gorgeous photo of Whitewater Draw in Cochise County. It’s one of the county’s many public lands.

How can I improve on that? I thought. So I’m not going to. Check out this wonderful post and enjoy!

Dos Cabezas in Cochise County

Snow covered mountains in Cochise County

Dos Cabezas Photo (c) Luanne Mattson

I was in Willcox in Cochise County for a meeting today and took this photo  of the Dos Cabezas Mountains. “Dos Cabezas” means two heads in Spanish, which makes sense when you look at it. See the two heads?

The snow was left over from last week’s storm, and there was rain coming down in Willcox this morning. There will probably be more snow after this weather system passes through. That precipitation is good news for the farmers and wine growers in the region. Willcox is fertile ground where a lot of grapes are grown that eventually are made into Arizona wine. More on that on a later post.

Cheers!

Snow in Cochise County

It snowed in Cochise County this morning! Below are a few pictures. Don’t worry… the cold stuff is melting away soon melted away just a few hours later. Because Cochise County is in the southern part of the state, it gets some snow, but it doesn’t pose a threat like it does in the north.

The Douglas Visitor Center and the historic train depot (which now houses the Douglas Police Department) were blanketed in snow:

By 1 p.m., the snow had melted!

Snow also blanketed Tombstone, the “town too tough to die.” Here’s a resident’s puppy playing in it! By 9 a.m., it was melting.

Check out this great photo of some of the formations at Chiricahua National Monument. Kudos to the photographer, Laurent for his patience at getting this shot in the rain!

So many cool things are on the Internet, and I think this is one of them! Someone started a blog called “Wordless Wednesday.” It’s a chance to share photographs.

Here’s how it works: you take a photo, post it and then add a link of your to the Wordless Wednesday blog. I looked at a bunch of posts today, and there were quite a few people who couldn’t help but comment on their photos. I’m commenting on this just because I wanted to explain it to you.

In the future,  I’ll just post a picture. Enjoy!
